Intro to HPC Class
Event Details:
SRCC and Stanford Libraries will be offering an Introduction to High Performance Computing course based the Software Carpentries curriculum Wednesday, February 8th 1-4pm. This course will be a brief introduction to fundamental HPC concepts. Topics include:
- Connecting to a remote HPC system
- Scheduler Fundamentals
- How to submit a SLURM job
- Accessing software via Modules
- Transferring files with remote computers
- Running a parallel job
- Using resources effectively
Only basic Linux shell (command line) knowledge is used for the course. Going though this tutorial will be very helpful: http://www.hpc-carpentry.org/hpc-shell/
Please note: This class is for people who are beginners to HPC and SLURM. We will not be going into a deep dive on SLURM or sbatch directives. The class is not for people who already have HPC/SLURM experience. Some Linux command line experience with navigating the filesystem (ls, and cd commands) and editing files (nano) is required. A full service SUNetID is required for this class.
