Intro to Stanford Research Computing Center

October 20, 2021 - 1:00pm

In this 30 minute presentation we will introduce our research computing clusters and services on campus including Sherlock, Farmshare and SCG.  There will be time at the end for Q&A.

The Sherlock High Performance Computing cluster is used by over 850 research groups and 5000+ users at Stanford.  On our clusters researchers can run their code in parallel by using many hundreds of CPU's at once.  Faculty can also purchase servers on Sherlock, thus gaining exclusive access to computing resources.  Sherlock maintains a suite of commonly used software tools, including MATLAB, Python, R and several hundred others.  Our Farmshare cluster can be used for coursework and research.  The SCG cluster specializes in supporting genomics and bioinformatics research at Stanford.
