Ben Rogers
Ben Rogers is SRC’s executive director, jointly reporting to the Vice Provost and Dean of Research and the Stanford CIO.
Ben enjoys engaging with researchers and technologists across all disciplines to help them make use of a growing portfolio of research technologies and cyberinfrastructure services, and to accelerate scientific discovery and scholarship.
Ben has spent 20 years leading technology strategy and operations in Higher Education and Research Computing. His expertise includes high performance computing, large scale data storage systems, navigating federal regulatory environments, project and portfolio management, process improvement, and technology infrastructure and facilities in complex organizations. He has collaborated on a variety of grant proposals across agencies and has frequently served on National Science Foundation review panels.
Before coming to Stanford in 2025 he was at the University of Iowa where he started his career as a hands on technologist embedded in a Psychiatry Neuroimaging Lab environment. He was then one of the first hires on the Biomedical Informatics team supporting Clinical and Translational Science. After seven years in the University of Iowa Healthcare he transitioned to the University side and spent eight years building and growing research computing from the ground up. During this tenure he spent five years as the Associate Director for Informatics Services in the Iowa Informatics Initiative, an effort to increase academic, research, and technology capabilities in informatics and data science. His last four years at Iowa were spent leading Enterprise Infrastructure technologies for the University.
Ben holds Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Physics and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Iowa.
